Introducing Global Stories
Based on the intermediate textbook Global Stories, Introducing Global Stories provides students with information about the same or similar global issues, but with in slightly simplified language. The focus is not on the problem itself, but rather on the human need that is neglected. Thus, instead of a chapter focusing on "Homelessness," Introducing Global Stories introduces the larger issue of "Shelter." In a similar way, this four skills EFL/ESL textbook explores Security Labor, Money, Resources, Freedom, Happiness and Education, among other topics.
In addition, compared with Global Stories, the narratives of Introducing Global Stories are shortened from six to four sentences, and chapters are shortened from six to five pages, making them more accessible for lower level students. The presentation is still one that treats learners like adults, not children. Students are given much vocabulary support along the way, including an English-Japanese glossary page. Even basic level students willl be able to grasp the issues and learn about world problems while improving their English.
